Red Wing Dear “frog” console bowl set

Question:
This is a shallow (about 2") oval bowl (9 1/2" wide x 16" long) with deer (10" tall). Brown glazing accents. Deer has holes in base for floral arrangements. Bottom of bowl has "Redwing" with the leg of the R underlining the rest of the name with U.S.A. S26 that looks to be impressed rather than engraved into the clay before glazing. It’s hard to read on the creamy white color as it’s not deeply etched or colored. I also have round ribbed candleholders about 3" high and 1 1/2 inches diameter. Any idea if it’s real Redwing or of it’s value. It’s my mother’s, probably a wedding gift, or sometime thereafter, in 1944. Thanks Gwen

Answer: Hi Gwen

Your timeframe is correct, early 40′s. This is the deer "frog" and console bowl, shape #526, and 531. It is indeed made by Red Wing. If the cnadleholders are the same glaze, I’m sure they are as well. Value for the console bowl W/deer is around 75.00, and a pair of candleholders around 45.00. thanks, steve n rose

I have a friend that purchased this piece at an estate sale. She asked me if I would have any idea what it is worth. I told her I would check with the RWCS as we are members. So please tell me anything you can about this piece. I am not sure if there are any chips, I don’t think so, but could find out the next time I see her. I have a few more pictures if you would like to see them.
