Question:
I have nearly a whole set of Pompeii, with many serving pieces and most are in excellent shape. I have no children and I know a dumpster awaits anything I don’t dispose of. How do I get in touch with someone who may have an interest in these pieces? I see the society is gathering in Des Moines this weekend. Is there anyone I can contact there? I have just unpacked all pieces so have a list if someone is interested. Thank you. Betty

Larry, sorry I did not read this one through. I though she might have been asking for value too. I agre with you on your response below. I will contact her directly today.

STACY — I don’t think this is an appropriate question for Ask the Experts. We have been told we cannot post names and contact info for potential buyers and that we should refer such inquiries to the FAQ section. This lady specifically wants to sell her set to somebody in Des Moines. I assume she is not an RWCS member. In that case about all I can offer is a suggestion to post a "for sale" poster including photos and her list of items somewhere in the motel. Lots of people post memos in the elevators and in lobbies near the elevator.

The only other suggestion is to have her contact Dick Houghton and see if he would be willing to add her set to his auction. There also may be room sellers and Show n Sale sellers who would be willing to include her set for a percentage of the sale.
