Question:
Hello. My husband was recently given this Western Stoneware Comoany 15 gallon crock. It doesn’t have a lid and the handles are missing (left side handle holder is broken) and is has about an 8" crsck also on the left side. We are curious about the approximate value as we were considering using it on our front porch (covered but not enclosed) but wasn’t sure if it was too valuable to leave outside?? Thank you for your time. Cathy

 Answer: Cathy,

The RWCS membership has a Western Collector we contact. Here is what he had to say:

If the crock was mint it would have a value of $150-$200. Wiht the damage has a value around $50.00.
Ok to leave outside, but they should be filled over so they are upside during the winter months. They will break from the water freezing inside them otherwise. Scott

Sorry, Cathy. I just have no history or value on stoneware unless it is Red Wing or early Wisconsin pieces. Al Kohlman
