Question:
I have found this dog and am wondering what the value of it would be and if its even redwing? I looks to me that it is identical to a dog in "Redwing Potters and Their Wares" page 13. It is glazed with a heavy albany slip. Any info will help. Its the bigger one in the picture. Thanks Drew

Answer: Drew, , I don’t believe the dog is Red Wing. First of all these dogs are not marked and second many of these dogs were produced by other stoneware companies. The only Red Wing dog that I have seen has a different base. Also, the only way that they traced that dog to Red Wing was that it was found in the area. So there is no solid way to tell if Red Wing produced it, so for this reason and the number of these produced, I for one stay clear of them. This is about the best I information I can give on them.
