Question:
Hi Redwing collectors, I am about to attend a upcoming auction and noticed they had a redwing cooler. The description on the web site is poor, (in fact they list it as a butter churn) It appears to be 2 gall in good condition and has the water spout..no lid sadly. I found one on ebay which was fairly similar which sold for $1700. I am thinking of bidding for it, what do you think? Maybe $500 to $600? I would value your expert opinion before I go spending my hard earned cash. Many thanks in advance. David

ANswer: David, that Red Wing water cooler looks to be a little to large for a 2 gallon. This is a hand turned water cooler which means that the gallon-age mark is on the inside and stamped on the bottom. Whatever that number is, is what gallon the cooler is. If it is stamped with a 2, then the value will be around $2000 if the cooler is in perfect condition. If it is stamped with a 3, 4 or 5 and in prefect condition, the value as I see the cooler is around $400 at best. Hope this helps and good luck at the auction. Al Kohlman
