Question:
It has a patent date of 12-31-1915. It is 16.5 inches in diameter and 17.5 inches tall. The original handles are present. The ‘ears’ of the handles are in tact. It is a 12 gallon crock. It reads ‘Red Wing Union Stoneware’…which I think means that it the pre-dates 1936 switchover to another name. Where can I go to sell something like this for some value. My Mom is knocking down her shed and she has this from her Mom (my Gram). Nobody in the family wants it but it is interesting on some level. Gerry

Answer: Gerry, your mom’s 12 gallon Red Wing crock if in perfect condition could have a value between $150 & $250. All depends on condition and markings. You need to take some good photos and describe all the flaws such as cracks, hairlines & chips in your description. Not knowing where you live, I think eBay is your best avenue at this time to place it up for sale. It is a large piece and shipping would be expensive which could turn collectors away are lower the bids. So make sure that you leave the option of Pick Up in your ad. Good Luck. Al Kohlman
