Question:
We acquired a Redwing Union Stoneware 4 gallon butter churn with a ceramic lid, with no other markings, except the 4, the (4 inch) wing, and the oval. It has a middle hip ring that I have not seen yet in any of the pictures on your ‘answer’ pages. The lid has a small chip on its top ring, the churn is has no chips or cracks. Any information will be appreciated. Dennis
Answer: Dennis, it sounds like you have the molded 4 gallon Red Wing butter churn. This is where the top and bottom half is molded together to complete the churn. Value today in the condition you described would be $175 to $200. Al Kohlman
