Question:
I recently added this crock to my collection and would like help identifying its purpose and a value range. As you can see it is a five gallon crock. It looks to be from the 1930s by the logo design with the small red wing. I paid 32.00 at a local garage sale. Thank you for any assistance you can provide. Heidi

Answer: Heidi, you have a 5 gallon Red Wing bail packing jar. These jars were used for storing potatoes and other vegetables Your bail packing jar was produced between 1936 & 1947. In mint condition with the lid, the value would be around $300 to $400 in today’s market. These packing jars came in 3 & 5 gallon sizes and also have seen them with the 4 1/2" wing. Al Kohlman
