Question:
My grandmother passed about 5 years ago, sorry no pictures to attach as of now. I received two Red Wing crocks from the will. The first is a 25 gallon, perfect condition no cracks breaks or anything. Maybe a light cleaning needed still from the dirt but scared too wreak the glaze. It was stored in her potato cellar. The second red wing is a 8 gallon with orginal handles also no cracks or breaks. Both have the beautiful red wing seal, with the blue circle marking underneathe. I’d just likke to know what I’m working with of value. I know that its something, just don’t know where to turn. Jenny
Ansewr: Jenny, a perfect 25 gallon Red Wing crock with a 6 inch wing would cost you $300 if your were to find one in an antique shop. The 8 gallon $150 if again perfect and that large red wing. As far as cleaning them, You can use paint stripper on these crocks and never touch that glaze. So go ahead and get some dish washing detergent and a green or brown scratch pad and have at it. They should clean up well. Al Kohlman
