Question:
I have aquired a 20 gallon sanitation drain jar. The only thing on the crock is a number 20 in blue and a small square that says sanitation drain jar in blue. It has a metal stand it sits on the crock looks like a 20 gallon open crock exept it tappers to a drain or spout all of stone thus the reason it sits on a metal stand. Can you tell me is it red wing if it does not have the traditional red wing stamp. Also I am wondering an estimated value, it is in good shape and clean. In addition I was wondering what the item was used for. We are avid red wing collectors and have not seen this item before. THANK YOU Rebecca
Answer: Rebbecca, your sanitation self draining jar is Red Wing. These jars were produced for large dairy & chemical companies. Also, Hardware stores used them for dispensing chemicals such as window cleaners, detergents etc. You will also see them stamped with "Perfection Self Draining Jar". Because of the room they take up with the stand, the value is somewhat low for them. Value is around $200 to $250 if they are in mint condition. Al Kohlman
