Question:
What is the manufacture date and value of this 4 gallon wing only jug? There are no other markings on this jug. Thank you. Katy

Answer: Katy, the wing on your 4 gallon shoulder jug looks like it could be 6 inches long. You will need to measure it from it’s two longest points. If it is 6 inches long, than I would date your jug right around 1909. Six inch wings are rarely on any Red Wing stoneware pieces below 5 gallons. So if this is the case, your 4 gallon jug would have a value anywhere from $800 to even higher.. If it is the standard 4 1/2" wing, the value would be between $125 & $150 and dates between 1909 to a couple of years after that. I am betting on the 6 inch wing, which makes this jug very desirable for myself and other red wing collectors. Al Kohlman
