Question:
Hi I am down in Nebraska and found this 6 gallon pottery.Under the number it had leaves not the wing like on most and at the bottom it said Union stoneware CO. Red Wing, minn. Just wondering if it is a true Red Wing and if it is what it might be worth and if it is rare? Brian

Answer: Al is on vacation so I am filling in. The crock’s decoration is commonly called “elephant ears”. It would have been made in the early 1900’s in Red Wing Minnesota. If the condition is good, value would be $150 to $175.    Crocks with this mark would not be considered rare, but they are less common than those marked with a red wing.
