Hi Al I recently picked up this lid and would like to know moe about it including its value. It does have a raised number 3 on one petal.I have never seen one with a brown glaze. Robert

Answer: Robert, you have the later bar handle Red Wing 3 gallon lid. This lid had to have been at the top of the stack of other lids and it caught all the salt glaze which had been on the inside of the kiln from the salt glaze days. Collectors who need these bar handle lids do not like the salt glaze on them and therefore the values are low. If you turn your lid over you will see that the other side has that nice white creamy look which collectors want in these bar handle lids. $30 to $50 in mint condition. Al Kohlman
