Question:
We have a brown glazed pottery jug that we think has been in our family for over 50 years. The jug is in excellent condition with only one small chip off the edge of the mouth. The jug is 7.5 inches high and 5.5 inches across (diameter) the base. We only found one marking on the jug, a letter "A" pressed into the surface below the handle (see photo). We would appreciate anything that you can tell us about the jug including where it was made, its age, and current value. We have attached one photo here but have others to share with an expert, if needed. LouAnn

Answer: LouAnn, Red Wing did not mark the base of their ware with letters that I know of. Therefore, you jug is not Red Wing. However even if it were, the value would be low. With no decoration and not being signed. $15 to $20. Al Kohlman
