Question:
Hi. Did the North Star Pottery only use a salt glaze on their crocks and jugs? I recently saw a 20 gallon crock in plain white glaze marked in blue: 20 inside a 5 pointed star inside a circle. I have no picture at this time. Thanks Don

Answer: Don, North Star manufactured salt glazed pieces and some zinc glazed. They went out of business in 1892 right went the zinc glaze went into production. I have not seen any North Star Zinc glazed crocks, but have seen a number of jugs. The piece you are referring to I believe came from Ohio. Hope this helps. Al Kohlman
