Question:
I have a crock with broad blue stripes around it. The crock stands 14 inches high without the top and 15 inches high with the top. It is about 37 inches around at the middle. It has a spicket on the lower part of it. It also has a blue crown with the number 4 in it. The crown is in the middle of the crock at the widest point. Can you tell me about this crock? I cannot seem to find anything out about it. Thank you, Connie

Answer:

Connie your 4 gallon water cooler was manufactured by National Pottery. National Pottery operated in Roseville,Ohio, likely circa 1900-1925 or so. The company and mark mentioned are shown on page 312 of the book LEHNER’S ENCYCLOPEDIA OF U.S. MARKS ON POTTERY, PORCELAIN & CLAY written by Lois Lehner for COLLECTOR BOOKS 1988.

It is a BIG orange covered book of more than 634 pages. Cost $19.95 Hope this helps. Al Kohlman
