Question:
Hello, I have a Redwing jug with simply a marking of 3. The only that identifies it as Redwing is the marking on the bottom that says "Redwing Stonewares" The Piece is in good condition with a few chips around the opening and a hairline crack in the body of the jug.
Answer: Your 3 gallon Red Wing jug is one of the earlier should jugs because of the 3 on top of the dome. Any where from 1917 to early 1920′s. However, the value will be quite low do to the chips and the hairline. Also, collectors want to see decorations and just a number on a dome doesn’t do much unless you are trying to put a set of 3, 4, & 5 gallons jugs with the same markings together. The bottom signature does help the value, but again the damage will over ride the signature. Value $25 to $30. Al Kohlman
