Question:
In a shed at the back of our family’s cottage we found a beautiful, un-chipped five gallon container with the number 5 on the side and a small oval label with the words, "Red Wing, Union Stoneware, Red Wing Minn". On the other side of the container are the words, "Patented Dec 21st 1915". Your thoughts would be very much appreciated. Michael Collins

Answer: Michael, you have a Red Wing Stoneware 5 gallon Crock. The ""Patented Dec 21st 1915" is when Red Wing patented the handle design that went on this crock. So with the patent date of 1915 we know that your crock was manufactured sometime between 1915 & 1947. In mint condition the value is between $50 & $65. Al Kohlman
