Question:
I saw a 15 gallon stoneware crock with a number 15 above the wing on this website. The value in mint condition was a minimum of $185.00. I have a very similar piece but the number on the piece is a 6 rather than 15. What is the significance of the various numbers> Thanks
ANSWER: The number on the crocks signifies the gallon-age. So a number 6 on a Red Wing crock, means the crock will hold 6 gallons. The larger the crock size the greater the value. Your 6 gallon crock would have a value in mint condition somewhere between $65 & $100. All depends on condition, size of the red wing and how well the decorations are applied. Hope this helps.
