Question:
I found a cookie jar(clearly marked red wing on bottom)and what seems to be a "exact" match in all aspects , what I think is a trivit at a farm estate salein Northern WI.It is "perfect" condition, round, flat about 8in. diameter. Exact colorings to the spongware cookie jar, also nice condition but top is badly glued back together,in shades of brown, blue and rose. The entire top side is sponged, the back side is crazed and looks like something hot had been set on it a time or two, but it is in perfect shape. I have spent much time at bookstores, the library, antique stores and on internet and can’t find anything even close to this item. Was a trivet/table protector produced ,and if so what years ? Thank You Red Wing "Newbie" Janet R.

Answer: Janet, this is a tough one. I am sure that I am going to need a photo for this one. I do not know of a sponge-ware Red Wing cookie jar with a trivet. Now you may have a Red Wing Gray line cookie jar & it is sitting on the Gray line cake stand. The Gray line cookie jar in mint condition with a lid will book for $1000. The cake stand in mint condition in today’s market $3000 to $5000. Now you can see why I need a photo to make sure I am placing values on the correct pieces. Send me a photo and I will be happy to help you out. Al Kohlman
