Question:
I would appreciate info on this stoneware jug. Is it Redwing? Or who did make it? It is in excellent condition. What is the Value? Is it rare? Company history? Such as when did the Roehling Schutz company open? close? The only info I could find is "Roehling & Schutz Inc. (1913-1915), The Roehling Co. (1916-1918)." Of course, that is not true because the jug clearly says "established 1853". Thank you for your help

Answer: Nice looking Red Wing advertising jug. I looked in all of my Red Wing Advertising Stoneware books and this company was not listed. So I have no idea of their history. Value on the jug would be between $400 & has high as $500 depending on how rare the advertising. Nice piece! Al Kohlman

As for Roehling & Schutz, the company was in business for only two years (1913-1915) under that name. It started under a different name in 1853 (Fidolin Madlener, Inc. from what he found out) and changed again after 1915. That’s really all I know about them. There are also jugs with Sam Schutz from Chicago advertising out there.
