Question:
Is there a difference between Bee-String design and Lazy 8 Design. Also, is it called Lazy 8 or Lazy 8 Target?
Answer: The Bee-Sting design and Lazy 8 Design terms usually means the same depending on where you live. From Ohio to the east coast they refer these crocks as Bee-Sting. Here in the Midwest we of course call them Lazy eight target marked. The target mark (by itself) which looks like a basic lolly-pop can be found on the smaller crocks. Where the lazy eight target will always look like an eight laid on it size with a target mark or that lolly pop underneath it. You do not see a lazy 8 without that target mark under neath it. But you can find (on the smaller salt glaze crocks) a crock with just the target mark on it. It this target mark that the folks from the east refer to as Bee Sting mark. Hope this helps. Al Kohlman
