Question:
Hi, I have a 4 gallon Red Wing birch leave I picked up recently. All the decorations are in blue. The 3" ski oval say Union Stoneware Co. It’s got a 1" chip on the outside. It’s off to the side of the crock. Also has two tiny chips on the outside bottem edge. No cracks or hairlines or crazing. Can you tell me the approximate year it was made and it’s value. Thanks, Chris Hetrick
Answer: Chris, your Red Wing 4 gallon crock with ski oval was manufactured between 1900 and before 1909. Even though it is an early crock, there are quite of few of these that are out there. With the chips, the value would be between $50 & $75. Al Kohlman
