Question:
Hi Al, I have recently acquired a 6 gallon Red Wing Elephant Ear crock. It’s in great condition. It does have two small dings or gouges on the outside. They are about 1 inch long but are not very deep. They are off two the side and not noticeable when the crock is displayed. The top rim has a small ¼ inch shallow chip. Both handles are chip free which I find hard to come by. It has the 2 ½ inch “Union” oval. Can you tell me the production date and the approximate value. Thanks, Chris Hetrick
Answer: Chris, your 6 gallon elephant ear crock was manufactured between 1895 & 1906. With the two chips, I would place the value of your piece between $200 & $250. Al Kohlman
