Question:
I have found an egg which has been suggested is a Red Wing piece. How would I know for sure? It is 1-3/4 inches wide, 2-1/2 inches long. It appears to be glazed. Thanks Paul

Answer: Since your piece is unique this question was sent to both our Stoneware and Art Pottery experts for the Red Wing Collectors Society. Both experts agreed that your egg is not a red wing piece. Below are the comments from each expert.

I’m afraid your stoneware egg is not Red Wing. I have never seen anything like it and therefore just do not have an answer for you. Sorry, Al Kohlman

There is no way of positively identifying it as Red Wing, maybe "attributed" to would be better. It could be some sort of lunch hour item, who knows…… Steve and Rose

If you have any further information about your egg about how or where you found your piece and what led those who suggested it was Red Wing please email the RWCS Executive Director, Stacy Wegner, director@redwingcollectors.org.

Sorry we could not be more help with your piece.
