Question:
My daughter was looking on the internet for information on crocks and came across your website. I have a crock that she thinks is a Red Wing crock. It is 10 1/2" deep, 10 1/2" across the top. The color is a tan with flecks of blue or brown all through it. The design on the front is blue and looks like a 3 with swirls below. There is some kind of black/blue drips of somethin on the front of it. It has handles on both sides. The inside is brown glazed. There are a few cracks on the sides. I bought this at a garage sale and paid $5 for it. Can you give me any information on this? Thank you Diane
Answer: Diane, your 3 gallon salt glaze crock is not Red Wing. I think it was manufactured in OHIO. I have seen other OHIO pieces where the potter has come directly off of the gallon-age number and ended in the decoration below. Other that what I have mentioned above, I have no other information on your piece. Sorry, Al Kohlman
