Question:
Over time, we’ve collected what we believe to be all three sizes of Red Wing Refrigerator Jars. In one collector’s book they are shown stacked, but the ones we have nest inside each other. Were there lids that allowed the jars to stack?
Answer: The stacking refrigerator jars did not have lids. If you wanted to stack them, you needed to have the same size jar and it would sit on top of the other jar. If you look at the bottom of any of the three jars you have, you will see how the bottom would fit nicely on top of the same size refrigerator jar. Therefore if you mother put carrots in one jar, she could take the same size refrigerator jar of that type and put peas in the other than place it on top of the ones with carrots and so on. Hope this helps explains why they call them stacking Red Wing Refrigerator Jars. Al Kohlman
