Question:
A Red Wing Stoneware mug with decoration of a snowman in a black top hat and a red scarf. Carrot nose and lumps of coal for eyes, mouth and buttons. Circular blue ink stamp mark on the bottom: Red Wing Stoneware Co. Red Wing, MN. with the "Wing" logo in the center. Approx. 3-1/2" tall and holds 12 ounces filled to the rim. Looks like it was hand thrown on the potter’s wheel. White-ish grey "crock color" glaze with a circle of blue glaze around the rim. It doesn’t look old, so I thought it would be easy to find information on the internet, but I can’t find a thing! Is this part of a dinner ware pattern, or maybe made for a special event or occasion? Thankyou for your time and attention. I appreciate your help! :)
Answer: Your mug is from the new stonewares currently in operation in REd Wing Minn. Here is a link to information about them from our Frequently Asked Questions page of our website.
