Question:
This is a 5 gallon salt glaze crock with a rather ornate rendering of a flower. The condition is just about perfect. I have always refered to it as a "lunch hour piece." Do you have an opinion as to it’s background, date of production or value? I personally like it alot. Thanks!
Answer: You have quite a nice looking crock here. Not sure who made it as I would need to see the handles and have a closer look at it to decide who may have manufactured it. Being salt glaze, it had to be manufactured somewhat between the 1860′s & 1890′s. Value is tough on a crock like this do to not knowing for sure how would have made it, So I must stay clear of an estimated value as I ready have no idea. I have never seen this decoration before, but it was nicely done. Al Kohlman
