Question:
i have a 2 gal. birch leaf crock that has a white crusty substance in the inside and outside it kinda dull. i have heard of bleach doing this.and heard that vinegar will help remove these stains. but will soaking it in white vinegar hurt the crock? and fix the white streaks in the inside? i have washed it out and it comes back after dries.

Answer: It sounds like you have a lime build up inside your crock. I use Lime-a-way toilet bowl cleaner (gel type). It will not hurt your crock. Remember to use rubber gloves when working with this stuff. Spread it over the lime and leave it set for at least 10 minutes. Then use a green scrubbing pad and have at it. When finished, rinse it well with plenty of water. Good luck. Al Kohlman
