Question:
I have a salt glazed sroneware mixing bowl marked with an incised, but weak "RWSC" which I hope is a Red Wing piece, pre 1906. It is 12 inches in diameter, in very good to excellent condition. Twelve inches in diameter. Very good glaze. Just 2 chips in the wide band, one looks to be a mfg blemish, one is later. All gray. Excellent top ring. More pics available if needed. I plan to sell in a nice shop with lots of tourist trade, and am in no hurry to sell. Thanks for any assistance in verifying maker and establishing value. Gloria
Answer: Gloria, you have what is referred to as a Red Wing milk pan. These milk pans were a very popular item and appeared in all the Red Wing catalogs beginning in 1909. In mint condition and signed your bowl would have a value between $50 & $70. You would need to take a little off of this value do to the chips. Al Kohlman
