Question:
I have a 10 red wing crock. The wing is 6". The crock stands 16 inches high about 15 inches across. It has 2 loop holes for wire to go through for the handles. There is 1 original? wire and wood handle in the stone loop, the other loop is empty. Oval stamp under the wing says Union Stoneware Company (Red Wing state? slightly faded) There are no chips. My Aunt Helen kept salt for the driveway in it. She was giving things away before she left her home.

Answer: Your Aunt Helen’s 10 gallon Red Wing Crock was manufactured right around 1915. This is when the Red Wing Stoneware Company began applying handles to their crocks. It was shortly after this that the size of the wing was reduced to 4 1/2". In mint condition the crock carries a value between $100 & $150 in today’s market. Al Kohlman
