Question:
Recently we purchased a 2 pound butter crock on eBay, and according to the seller, he stated this: "This is manufactured by Red Wing, it has the Red Wing markings on the bottom…" Well, we got it in the mail and we don’t see any such markings. Wondered if you could help us if this is true or not. I have provided a picture of the bottom. If you want more pictures, the item in eBay is: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110222190365&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=001 Thank you. Look forward to your response. (This is our second attempt to submit this question. My internet connection was interupted on the first attempt). Roger
Al, the picture shown is not for the piece referenced on ebay.
Answer: Roger, after looking at the photo of the bottom you send me and the photos on EBay, I don’t think this butter crock is Red Wing. There definitely is no Red Wing mark on the bottom. Butter crocks were made by a number of different potteries and there just is nothing here to convince me that it is Red Wing. I see a number of items posted on EBay and referred to as Red Wing and they are not. I think this is one of those cases. Sorry. Al Kohlman
