Question:
I happened a cross a little brown pitcher witha handle. I found it in an old Red Wing Stoneware book from 1983 copy write. That book said it is a mustard pitcher. It is pictured on the bottom of page 85. I wounder what todays worth is if it was priced at between 400.00 and 450.00 in 1983? Please, can you help with a value, Jim Gladis

Answer: Jim, the little brown pitcher with handle you found on page 85 of the Red Wing Stoneware book is a North Star pitcher. It is marked with North Star under neath and the value in the 2006 book is still at $400 to $450. Now if your pitcher does not have the North Star embossed on the bottom, it’s value will drop to about the $10 to $20 range. With the North Star embossed on the bottom is quite rare. In today’s market. I will guess a value even a little higher than what the book states ($475 to $500) with the embossed North Star on the bottom would be a truer value. Al Kohlman
