Question:
I have a crock with a wing and oval, but no number. It is the same diameter as my 10 gal. crock but only half as tall. I have never seen a Red Wing crock like this. Can you tell me anything about it.

Answer: I have seen crocks such as yours with just the wing and just the oval. Many of these half crocks were used as cheese or butter crocks. However, they were a special order and are not that abundant. Therefore these crocks can demand a high value among collectors if the piece is mint and markings are clear and dark. I would love to see a photo of your crock (as would many other Red Wing collectors who read these questions and answers). If you have a little time, please send us one via email. Sounds like a great piece. Al Kohlman
