Question:
I have a damaged Red Wing Ko-Rec Feeder top made by the Red Wing Union Stoneware Co. in Minneapolis. It has hairline factures and a piece broken on the bottom front, as well as on the bottom back. However, unlike others I have seen on the Internet, this top states, "Pat. Applied For" rather than the number itself. Is this of any significance and what is the value of this piece? I did not include the base in the photo as it appears to be a substitute replacement. Thank you.
Answer: Your Red Wing KO-REC Feeder with the Pat. Applied For is somewhat rare and there are Red Wing Collectors who look for the Pat Applied For pieces. However, with all the damage you mention, the value would be greatly reduced on your piece. In Mint Condition with the base, it could have fetched as much as $200. Al Kohlman
