I am trying to find some information about this piece. I am told that is may be a Red Wing salt glazed jug. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. It is about 16 inches tall and 12 inches wide. Are these rare or worth very much?

Answer: Your 3 gallon salt glaze beehive is not Red Wing. I am not sure of the manufacturer however. Collectors look for jugs with decorations first, next on their list is no staining, and lastly a nice salt glaze sheen. Without this combination, the values are really quite low. I would place a value on you jug in the $100 to $200 range. Al Kohlman
