Question:
Hi, Im glad I found you. I have a pitcher, blue glaze.Star on bottom. Can you tell me anything about this? I think its North Star. Thanks for your time. Gigi

Answer: Gigi, your blue & white stoneware pitcher is called "Grape Cluster with Rickrack" . This pitcher can be found in the Collector’s Encyclopedia of Salt Glaze Stoneware. In their description, they do state that a star molded on the bottom center of one of these pitchers indicates the mark of it’s maker, the Northstar Stoneware Company of Red Wing Minnesota. Also stated is very similar pattern with a band of leaves around the top rather than rickrack that is produced by the UHL Pottery Company in Huntingburg, Indiana. I myself do not believe this pitcher was produced by the Northstar Stoneware Company, However, I have been corrected before on stoneware that I was just not quite sure on. The book value on this pitcher is between $200 & $250. Hope this was of some help. Al Kohlman
