Question: {mosimage}
Hi, Would you have any information you could share with me regarding this piece? I’d like to know what it was used for, how old it is and its value.
Thank you so much. Cathy

Answer:
Cathy, you have a Red Wing 3 gallon Ball Lock Jar (sometimes called applesauce jars). They were produced in 5, 3 & 2 gallon sizes. Each jar had a lid and a wire devise to lock down the lid. They were manufactured around 1920 and continued into the 1930s. If your jar was complete with top & wire lock down device, the value would be around $250. Without the lid & lock down device figure about half.
