Question:
Recently aquired a Forest Green Town & Country Water Jug, Perfect cond. and Gravy boat, small chip on one pour spout, Both are on blanks from the Provencial line…Two 8 1/2" salad bowls are green on the inside and white on the outside…How can these be authenticated and can you place a value on them? Chuck

Answer: Unless the photo is badly distorted, the green pitcher in the photo was not made by Red Wing. It resembles a Provincial line pitcher but the shape is too tall and slender. The Provincial pitchers were more short and squat. The curl in handle where it attaches to the pitcher also does not fit. A Provincial pitcher has a slight upwards turn at the connection point while this pitcher has a more pronounced curl. The spout also appears to be the wrong shape although that area of the photo is too dark to see much detail.

If this was a Forest Green pitcher in the Provincial shape, then it would be an Ardennes or Normandy pitcher. They are among several Red Wing patterns that used the Forest Green color. Town & Country was one of the patterns available in Forest Green but this pitcher has no connection with Town & Country. Since I do not believe this is a Red Wing pitcher I would have no idea of the value. In order to assess the gravy boat and the salad bowls I would need to have more details or preferably a photo.
