Question:
We have a small plate 6-1/4" flat side to flat side. We absolutely cannont find this pattern anywhere. Help ! The mark is the red stamped Red Wing underglaze mark with the number 284. I can send that also if you like. Jim Patrick

ANSWER: The name of this pattern is Spring Song. It is one of many patterns made in the Concord shape and was one of the last patterns in that line to be introduced. It was available for only a couple of years, 1954 to 1955. The number 284 on the bottom of the plate is merely a stock or lot number; it does not identify the pattern. Spring Song is not easy to find today and collectors are attracted to the pattern’s birds and bright colors. Value for your bread and butter plate is around $15, assuming it is in excellent condition.
