Question:
I have a Blue Chicken Casserole with warming stand. There is a large chicken and smaller chicken on one side and a medium size chicken on the reverse side. It is marked Red Wing USA on the bottom. What is the vintage and value. Thank you. Anni

Answer: The birds on your casserole are not chickens, they are Bob Whites (quails). The name of this pattern is Bob White and it was Red Wing’s best selling dinnerware pattern from its introduction in 1954 until the pottery closed in 1967. Bob White casseroles were made in three sizes: 1, 2 and 4 quart. I can’t be certain without knowing the dimensions but your casserole appears to be the 2 quart size, which is the most common size. The copper stand by itself is worth at least as much as the casserole. Stands were optional at the time of purchase and many of those that were sold have been lost over the years. Value for a 2 quart Bob White casserole with copper stand is $50 to $75, assuming both items are in excellent condition.
