Question:
Hello and thank you for your time. I have two of these jars and was told they may be Red Wing, but I can’t located any information to confirm that and ask your assistance. The jar is 6" tall, with a brown outer glaze and a turquoise color interior glaze. Thanks! Ruthann http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v226/SkatingOnThinIce/butterjar001.jpg

Answer: The link leads to a photo of a dark brown with green interior steam table jar. These jars were used to hold food and keep it warm in a steam or hot water serving table. Red Wing definitely made jars like these in white but to my knowledge the brown and green jars were not made by Red Wing. Several other potteries also made brown and green dinnerware and I believe this steam table jar was made by one of them.
