Question:
abstract bowl w/lid – no cracks – thanks in advance for your assistance on these 5 items I have sent in. Time to put them on craigslist so my husband can get a new depthfinder. Gail

Answer: This jar isn’t part of any dinnerware pattern. It could be considered art pottery but probably fits best into the Gift or Novelty item category. In the late 1950s or early 1960s Red Wing introduced sets of Jolly Jars in three sizes. The Jolly Jar sets were available in three different designs. This one was named Sierra. Sweet Shop and Mosaic were the names of the other two designs. I believe this is the smallest size jar; if so it would be marked 723-S on the bottom. Value for this jar is in the $25-40 range if in excellent, undamaged condition.
