Question:
I have a Red Wing Pottery cookie jar that looks like a Jack of Hearts from a deck of cards. His bag says "Tarts" and his crown is the top of the cookie jar. I also have 3-4 mugs that are brown with the teal inner, plus 3 that say "Happy Days are Here Again!". I am wondering if you can tell me the value of these items. Thanks! Liz

Answer: Photos or more thorough descriptions of your items are needed to make an accurate assessment.

The King of Tarts cookie jar was made in solid colors (pink, blue, yellow, and possible others); some have black highlights (eyes, beard, crown, heart-shaped scepter, Tarts) while others have no black at all. But the most valuable version of the King of Tarts jar was hand painted in many bright colors – red, blue, yellow, pink, gray, black, brown. Value for a King of Tarts cookie jar is $250-750 depending on the color and highlights.

The brown and teal mugs are either Bakeware (Oomph) or Village Green. Value is $10-20.

The Happy Days mugs are stoneware, not dinnerware. I’m not as well versed in stoneware values but they are probably in the $25-50 range.

All of the above values assume excellent, undamaged condition. Chips, cracks, hairlines, flakes, glaze flaws, stains, etc will reduce these values significantly.
