Question:
Larry: The Tampico bowls are oval is shape [6x6.5"] The cups are really mugs[3 1/2"diameter] and possible designed without saucers. The cream & sugar are smaller than the mugs. Thanks for the info on the water coolers. What was the Tampico period of production? Brad

Answer: The Tampico pattern was introduced in 1956 and was still in production when Red Wing Potteries closed in 1967. The 6 inch bowls are cereal bowls and worth around $10 each. The sugar bowl as shown in the photo does not have a cover; without the cover it has minimal value. The creamer is worth $10-15. The mugs are not common and are worth $50-75 each. All values assume excellent condition.

The mugs have an interesting history. This mug design was originally introduced with the Town and Country dinnerware pattern in 1947. After Town and Country was discontinued in 1956, this mug was used for several of Red Wing’s more popular dinnerware patterns (Tampico, Bob White and Village Green) and continued to be made until the business closed in 1967.
