Question:
I would like to know the value on these four hand~painted platters and one dish. The platters measure approx 11" x 13" … 3 have the wing on the back and 1 is stamped. The plate measures almost 10 1/2" square and has the red wing stamp on the back. All the pieces are crazed but there are no chips or cracks. Minor imperfections in the glaze. I have more pictures to submit if you like. Sharon

Answer: The name of this pattern is Lotus, and it was among Red Wing’s better selling patterns in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The platter and dinner plate are common pieces and are easily found today. Values are $15-20 for a platter and $10-15 for a dinner plate. These values assume excellent condition. Crazing, stains and glaze flaws will reduce the value to some extent.
