Question:
Hello, I am wanting more info on these dinnerware pieces. #1 has the yellow Plum Blossum design and has 4 dinner plates (a 5th one is broken), 7 small bowls, 4 larger shallow bowls (soup/salad?), 11 saucers, 13 tiny plats that have indentions for cups and 19 cups. #2 has the Country Garden design but are regular shaped plates, there are 5 dinner plates. Thank you for your help, Kathy

Answer: Plum Blossom Yellow is one of two patterns made in the Dynasty shape. Plum Blossom Pink is identical except for the colors. These patterns were produced from 1950 to 1953. Hollowware (pitchers, teapots, casseroles, etc) did not have the decorated pattern but were available in three solid colors: Citron Yellow, Mica Bronze or Woodland Green. Cup and saucer sets were made in two sizes; standard tea cup & saucer and A.D. cup & saucer (a demitasse sized set). The tiny plates with cup indentations are A.D. saucers. Bowls were made in several sizes and without dimensions I’m not sure what you have. Plum Blossom Yellow is fairly common and not highly valued by collectors.

Country Garden is one of six patterns in the Anniversary shape. It was made from 1953 to 1957. Flatware (plates and bowls) were decorated; hollowware was available in solid colors. Gray is the color primarily associated with Country Garden but price lists also mention sage green, white and pink as available color options. A Country Garden dinner plate in excellent condition is worth $15 to $25.
