Question:
I have a set of 4 small cups with 4 saucers. There is a creamer and a pot with a lid and a spout. It is glazed chocolate brown with a green trim. They could be a tea set or a hot chocolate set. They were my mother’s. I think from the 1940′s. I’d like to know what it is and when it was made. It has Red Wing on the bottom of the pot. I would also like to know the value. Thank you Cheryl

Answer: Without a photo or additional details I cannot be sure what you have. Your description would fit two Red Wing patterns. Bakeware, more commonly known as Oomph, was made in the 1940s. Pieces were dark brown with bluish-green trim and the covers were dark brown. Village Green was introduced in 1952 and continued to be a popular pattern until the Potteries closed in 1967. Village Green hollowware was dark brown with bluish-green trim with bluish-green covers. The pot with lid could be either a teapot or a covered beverage server. Both patterns had cups and saucers with similar colors. Assuming all pieces are in excellent condition, the value for this set would be $50 to $100 depending on the pattern and the identity of the pot.
