Question:
I have a teapot with the marking "Red Wing USA 934" on the bottom. It measures 9 1/2" wide x 6" high x 4 3/4" deep and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Can you tell me its history and value? Thank you.
Answer: This teapot is from Gypsy Trail Hostess Ware, a large group of colorful pieces made to go with the Gypsy Trail dinnerware patterns. The number is 234, not 934, and this teapot was made in the early 1940s. It is fairly common and rather nondescript, thus it’s value is not as high as the more popular Saturn, rooster and Dutch woman teapots produced a couple of years later. Value in excellent condition would be $35 to $50.
